Alan Phelans RGB Sconce, Hold Your Nose
Alan Phelan’s “RGB, Sconce Hold Your Nose”  City Hall, Dublin.

We were delighted to see Alan Phelan’s Sculpture finally in place for Dubliners and all passers-by to see at City Hall. The launch by The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Alison Gilliland took place on weds 29th September, with local and national media reporting on the event.

Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland said that she welcomes it as an “inspiring symbol of hope”. TheJournal.ie

Alan Phelan asked us to work with him and scale up his handmade sculpture from its original size, to a full 5.5 metres which now proudly sits on the O’Connell plinth outside Dublin City Hall.
These are the steps we took:

3D Scanning;
The first part of our process was to 3D Scan the original hand sculpted sculpture, preserving all the fine detail of the piece.

Our team then worked their magic to create a 3D file from all the data captured in the scans. The files were then scaled up  from 1 foot to 5.5 metres.
3D Printing
3D files were spilt into sections and printed on our Builder Extreme large format 3D Printer.

All the pieces were then put together ready for Alan to apply his own distinct colours and finish.
